Nairobi, 7 September 2021 - The UN Environment Programme (UNEP), in collaboration with IQAir, a Swiss air quality technology company, has developed the first real-time air pollution exposure calculator, which builds on the world's largest air quality data platform, launched by UNEP and IQ Air in February 2020.

There are a number of contributing factors in regards to the high levels of pollution in Jakarta. During the year of 2019 a PM2.5 reading of 67.2 µg/m³ was recorded, putting that month's air quality into the "unhealthy" bracket (55.5 to 150.4 µg/m³ to be classed as such).
